Dear readers,
while my time here in Italy is coming to an end, I have been reflecting on this and past trips I have been on in the last two decades. One thing I have noticed is that the way I have evolved as a person does not only have an impact on the way I live my daily life, but also on the way I spend my vacation.
Travels in my twenties and thirties were always pedantically planned and overly crammed. The urge to see as much as possible was high and often didn‘t leave much room for spontaneity or time to relax. And looking back at it now, it was just the way I was and what I wanted to do at that time. I never was the person who could spend a whole vacation by the pool or at the beach.
Maybe it is because I already have been to a good number of places in my life or because I am older now or because my lifestyle and I as a person have changed but the way I travel these days has definitely changed over the past few years.
The main focus has switched from finding the most exciting places to visit, to finding the perfect place to stay. A place, which does not only feel like a perfect home away from home, but also is located somewhere quiet and close to nature.
This vacation here in Italy is the perfect example: Instead of rushing from place to place every other day and having a long list of must-sees and must-dos, my husband and I picked three places to stay - one for each week in three different regions of Italy. No lists or plans whatsoever.
Because we were traveling with our dog - which also has a big impact on how we travel - we knew we would go on daily hikes, but this was the only set event every day. We spent most days doing only the things we enjoy. There was not a minute I felt bored or feared I was missing out on something.
All in all we had wonderful time, made some happy memories and returning home with recharged batteries.
And to round up this little newsletter I added a few photos from the past two weeks. I hope you enjoy them!
And if you have missed my other newsletter from Italy you can find it here:
That’s all from me today. Thank you for being here and for reading this week’s newsletter.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful. I did indeed enjoy seeing these lovely photos and reading your words 💛
You holiday just like I love to holiday. We love to stay in a place a week yo really get a feel for it. Holidays don’t come for us these days. Living day to day takes up our money but seeing your photos gives me a glimmer of hope that we will return to Italy again one day. So happy you had such a lovely holiday.
