My Visual Journal #77

After the rain.

June 29th, 2026.

I was two minutes into my morning walk with Fibi when I noticed the leaves that had washed up along the gutter after the heavy rain.

I hadn’t brought either my camera or my phone with me. But I loved the aesthetic of this scene so much that I turned around to grab my camera.

It had been a while since I’d last gone for a walk with it. Most of my attention is on my dog these days, but she behaves a little better with each passing day. So, hopefully I will be able to bring my camera more often again.

I started “My Visual Journal” as an addition to my regular newsletter to share the photos I take during my walks during the week. The overall idea is “more photos, fewer words.” Over time, I realized it is also a great way to practice curating, selecting, and sequencing a set of photographs and turning them into a short narrative.

I send out a new edition every other week, alternating with my regular newsletter, which covers various topics but primarily focuses on art, photography, and the creative process.
