I have been having a similar struggle with my writing since Substack launched notes. Thanks for the authentic post. Your words were refreshing to read and your art never fails to inspire me.
You can shoot. You have a great eye. I’ve been a Pro for 30 yrs and my content is for people just like you. Please take a moment to find me on YouTube today. I’d never post a link here. Keep at it. I like your writing style. Love and light from
Lovely images! Your sand abstracts are particularly satisfying to the eye. Keep up with the writing, I feel the same way all the time. I want to share something meaningful and intelligent and then I think to myself "well you don't have a MFA in photography or a PHD in literature" and doubt myself out of writing anything. It really only does get better with practice so keep at it, sharing your vulnerability also helps people like me who are feeling the same about something as specific as writing a newsletter about photography feel heard and understood. All the best!
Dear Susanne, maybe it’s the time of the year that brings us these thoughts. My two artfriends and I had the same discussion last week. I’m in a copple of artgroups and now I doubt about staying or leaving. And why? At First we talked about : What makes us having this questions?
The result was: just do what you like to do! The other things don’t matter for your wellbeing. What is important: make good art and have fun, playing around. We don’t have to be good at everything.
Thank you for your opinion, Willemien. So good to see you here! ☺️ I totally agree, that play and having fun should be rule number one! But that doesn’t necessarily protect me from my inner voices. Especially if you are a perfectionist.
I love getting your missives Susanne☺️. I have never once thought “oh, Susanne can’t write”. I have only ever thought “what great photos and what interesting info.” x

Thank you so much, Crystal! This means so much coming from you. ♥️
I feel you don't need to write. Your Photographs speak for themselves.
Nara, thank you very much for your kind words. I am glad you think the photos speak for themselves.

And so: take decisions.
