Wonderful shots, this place looks so interesting. Love it that there are no people on these photos but the place is full of life and it actually looks busy.
Thank you, Xavi! I am not really familiar with that neighborhood and it was a bit weird. First, I didn‘t wanted to share the photos because they don’t feel harmonic to me. They look more like they have been taken on several walks, but I am glad you like them.
hi Susanne . . . i noticed you give one of my posts a like so i visited you and enjoyed the B&W image art on your substack . . . and now i know why your profile portrait is B&W! nice work . . . i shy away from mono because mine don't caome out as nice as yours so i'll just enjoy old photography from you and others who know what they're doing. ausgezeichnet!
Loved walking with you. So many stories and poems held in the photos. Wonderful commitment to slow down and take notice of the extraordinary in our ordinary.
I want to write another comment after going through your Wanderweg once again. There is such a powerful connection to you as the see-er and the life there. Humankind throughout, and a certain sweetness and empathy. I especially like the small created structures, and then you stand back and give us the context. So lovely. And so much life in that winter rest! I see at some point you responded to a comment that they do not feel harmonic. On the contrary! Harmony and relationship throughout.
Andi, that you are taking the time giving this a second look and sharing your feedback with me means so much to me. Thank you! I am glad to hear they feel harmonic to you and relate to one another for you.
I didn‘t see those little structures at first. I only saw the advent wreath hanging there first and thought it was odd but interesting. Only when I approached it to take a close up I saw the little houses. It was a fun surprise and just right in time for this week‘s post! =)
Oh, Andi that is so kind of you to say! I am glad you are enjoying these. I have that book too, but haven’t read it in a while. I should read it again. I find his writing -as his photographs- rather complex. I hope you enjoy the read!
Yes, I find it pretty complicated too. Sort of like Tim Carpenter and Rebecca Solnit. But I enjoy reading slowly and repeatedly, until it makes sense (mostly)

You did a great job using your curiosity there. ✌️

Thank you, Wren! I enjoy taking these walks and I am happy you enjoy following along!
These are so good! Love the cottage shot from the woods one especially 🌲🏠
Thank you, Phoenix!
This place is eerie and such brilliant inspiration for your shoot. More of this, please!
Thanks, Nat!
Beautiful and stunning photo series before Christmas Susanne...!
Thank you! This walk came just in the right minute! I did not know what to expect or what I would find. It was an interesting walk.

Wo ist das? Spannend 😎
Danke. Das ist hier in Hamburg. Ein kleines Wäldchen, eine Kleingartenanlage und eine komische Nachbarschaft. Mal was anderes...
What a great series. BnW lends itself so beautifully to these low contrast, grey days. Love the forest textures, too.
This is my first comment on Substsck, I joined a few months ago with the plan of transitioning away fro Instagram but haven't made a post yet.
Thanks, Andy! Good you are here. IG was one of the main reasons I came here. It is a wonderful place. I hope you enjoy it here.
I have begun to look forward to your photo diary and find it super inspiring. Also bought Robert Adam’s book “Art Can Help”. ❤️

Lovely work Susanne, I visited Germany often in my 20s and miss the forest walks.
happy Christmas to you!
Thank you, Julia! I live in Hamburg and I am so grateful to have so many parks and forests around me.
I like this journey, I feel as if you’ve brought me along for a long stroll beside you. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
Thanks, Donn! Glad you came along! I am wishing you and your loved ones Happy Holidays too!
Your photos are inspiring me to start taking photos again. I used to walk in the morning and take photos, I want to start that again.
Thank you! Maybe a New Year’s resolution? I hope you pick it up again. It is so rewarding!
Another beautiful post! Happy Holidays, Susanne.
Thank you, Mary! I wishing you Happy Holidays too!
