These are great. When I try to take pictures in dull weather then just come out a boring mess. I will be looking back at these to figure out how to capture the mood of those days. I especially like the barn with the puddle.
Thank you, Josh! I think, it is a matter of practice to photograph these "dull" things. The more you do it, the more you see what works. This is how it works for me at least.
It was a great and inspiring journey for me, Susanne.
When I saw the photographs I thought you shooted on medium format with -for example Lomography CN 400 or some Kodak films. I said inspiring photographs, so after I read your journal, I loaded a roll of CineStill 800T. :::)))
Again really impressive photos with that muted colours. Today’s top read for me.
i am enjoying your Visual Journals Susanne, the natural palette of winter brings out the textures and lines often loss when everything is green..and the tree across the field is so good. I could imagine this in a printed framed photograph on a wall..Thank you for sharing..
Thank you, Thank you, Rick! I really love the colour palette of winter. I initially photographed them in b&w, but many of them didn't work for me when I looked at them in Lightroom. Happy to hear you like them.
I had my Ricoh in b&w mode, when photographing these. But when I looked at them on my Laptop many of them didn't really work for me in b&w. Now, I really like the sequence and I happy you do too! I really love the winter palette. It is calm and quiet...

Loving that winter color palette, Susanne...

Well, I love Portra film and there are still waiting 120rolls in my fridge for me. One of these days…
But that I was able to inspire you to get out your film camera makes me happy!
Thank you so much for your kind comment!
Have a wonderful weekend and fun with your camera!
Such a lovely collection Susanne
Thank you, James!
The second one for me Susanne, love those leading lines and curve around the corner, quite mysterious and moody. 👍
Thank you, Ross! I love how the wind shaped the bushes here. I felt so drawn to all the lines here too!
Beautiful Blues!
Thank you, Timothy!
So rare to see color photos! Such beautiful tones and wonderful compositions. It’s always a delight to go through your visual journal!
Thanks, Manuela! I am glad you enjoy the colour versions of the Journal as well!
Great photos. Though I'm a b&w photographer I do like your use of color in these images.
Thanks, Marcel! Happy you do. I photographed them with my Ricoh in b&w mode, but when I saw them in LR it didn't quite work for me anymore..
I love the color!
Happy you do! Somehow these scenes called for colour.
You did a great job!
Thank you, Alex!
Terrific photos, Susanne! The colors look like the photos were taken with a film camera. If so, what camera did you use?
Thank you, Alex! These are digital photographs, edited in LR a bit. Happy you like them.
Oh am I a fan of this palette!
Thank you, Anne! Happy you like it! The fun part about winter is it‘s quiet palette!
I have to say It's refreshing to see a bit of colour on these scenes. Good choice, Susanne!
Is that sea or a lake?
Thank you, Xavi! Happy you think so. It is the Baltic Sea - a little Fjord near the border to Denmark but on the German side…
Got it, thanks, looks too peaceful for an open sea, that's why I'm curious. Looks cold though!
It was cold. and wet... looking forward to spring now...
Curious to see how spring blooms will affect your journals.
Thank you, Mark! Although I look forward to spring and warmer temperatures, I really like those quieter tones of winter...

strange to see colours from you but photos are beautiful never the less, the colour adds to the mood

yeah, the lack of contrast makes them look better in colour
true!
