Your photographs have a lovely feel and your composition is excellent. Evidence of human activity is everywhere, yet empty. I like the mood very much!

Thank you for your feedback, Søren. It is very much appreciated. I am often drawn to man-made structures which give you an idea of human presence without actually photographing people.

Grateful you let us see through your eyes. These are compelling. May I ask about the debris in that tree? It seems it could be the improvised nest of a megalithic bird.

Patris, thank you so much for your comment. I like your interpretation of the debris in the tree. But I think, somebody tried to build a very basic tree house up there. At least that's what it looked like to me...

From the pieces of timber I know you must be correct Susanne but the photo is so evocative that it demands a fantastical interpretation. You do such gorgeous work.

I love your interpretation so much. Sometimes I find small nests on the sidewalk which have fallen from trees and you find all kinds of human-made materials in there. If we still had really big birds living amongst us, they probably would use exactly what's pictured here.

Yes! My mother knit, crocheted nonstop when she got older and lived with us. I’d find small lengths of leftover wool in the garden even after she’d passed - she left them for the birds to use in their nests (and they did). I leave bits of ribbon when I have them to offer..

I actually love people doing this. I struggle with reading with the ME/CFS brain fog, but I love looking at images with perhaps just a few words for context. It's something I intend to do with my photography - fewer words, more images 😊

So good to hear you enjoyed my series. Substack is the perfect platform for it, because it is so quiet here and you can take all the time you need to look at it (compared to other platforms).

Definitely agree! It's less overwhelming here than many other places 😊
