Pretty sure if Transformers had to hide out somewhere in plain sight … it would be here :)

It would definitely a great spot to hide for them! 😃

Oh awesome location 👌Needs to be on my list, Duisburg is about 1,5hrs drive from where I live so could be a day out photographing :) Is it really open 24hrs or are there opening times?

That whole area is interesting if you like industrial stuff. And yes, it’s always open unless there are thunderstorms or heavy winds. In evenings they sometimes have the buildings illuminated in different colours. Check out their website for more info…

I love how you’ve captured the various ways nature has reclaimed parts of the old ironworks. The different colours and textures but also the architecture that remains. It looks like a fascinating place to explore. Wonderful stuff.

Wonderful set of images Susanne....and what an amazing place! I love that nature has taken over and that it has been nurtured further into a public park.

Thank you, Lin! It is truly an amazing place and I am thankful that it hasn’t been just demolished…

Cool! I've never heard of an abandoned industrial complex made into a public park, I think of them as places to sneak into in order to see!

Expand full comment

Well, that is usually the case. But some smart people decided not to demolish it.

thanks Susanne. I liked all of your pictures a lot, but particularly the ones with interesting shadows like the second one and one of my think it’s a bridge stanchion also with shadows. It’s neat they leave the old factory works up as a Park. It’s very picturesque. Again, thank you for the nice photos.
