The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
Fog

We don’t get fog very often where I live - especially not in the middle of the city. That is why I get excited whenever we have a foggy day and I can go out and experience it. It always feels like a gift to me.
Fog is special to me, not only because of its rare appearance but because it lets me experience the world differently. On a foggy day, everything feels quieter - not just the world around me, I feel quieter, calmer too. Even the time seems to go by slower than usual. Something I am grateful for in this loud and fast moving world.
I once met a woman in the park on a very foggy day and she made a comment on how spooky and uncomfortable it felt walking in the fog. I was surprised she didn't share the same feelings as I did about fog.
How do you feel about fog?
I started “My Visual Journal” as an addition to my regular newsletter to share the photos I have taken during the week on my walks. The overall idea is “more photos, less words”. It will be send out every other week, alternating with my regular newsletter which is about different topics, but mainly about art, photography and the creative process.
Here is the link to past editions of “My Visual Journal”.
If you are enjoying My Morning Muse, you can support me by subscribing to my newsletter, liking the post, and sharing it with friends.
It would mean the world to me!
X,
Susanne
Like you, I love the fog. And other weather. For years I lived where there were often cloudless blue skies. It’s hard to argue with warmth, but visually it’s just not as interesting or emotional. So many different moods can arise from variable weather. Fog being a special kind.
I love going out in the fog as well. The first words to run through my mind are “ Seltsam, im Nebel zu wandern” the first line of a Hermann Hesse poem Im Nebel. It sets the tone for the walk and the resulting photos.
