Like you, I love the fog. And other weather. For years I lived where there were often cloudless blue skies. It’s hard to argue with warmth, but visually it’s just not as interesting or emotional. So many different moods can arise from variable weather. Fog being a special kind.
It is so funny, that you say that about the blue skies and how it's not interesting or emotional. I was just writing about something regarding to this for my next newsletter. And I can agree so much. Thank you so much for your comment!
I love going out in the fog as well. The first words to run through my mind are “ Seltsam, im Nebel zu wandern” the first line of a Hermann Hesse poem Im Nebel. It sets the tone for the walk and the resulting photos.
Unsurprisingly, I feel exactly the same about fog as you do. When we get the rare foggy day here I want to skip work and go out and photograph it. I always see it as an atmospheric gift from the photography gods!
I love foggy mornings! The world seems quieter and more mysterious. I like the muted hues of subtle and more subtle, like a whiter shade of pale. Beautiful images, Susanne! I'm glad you were able to experience the gift of a foggy morning and capture it so wonderfully.
Your images of spider webs in fog perfectly capture what I love about misty mornings. Having lived both on the California coast and in Switzerland, I've developed a deep appreciation for fog's gentle presence. While some find it unsettling, I've always felt fog acts like nature's comfort blanket - creating intimate spaces in vast landscapes. These spider webs, especially, show how fog reveals the intricate connections we might otherwise miss in harsh daylight. It's like fog strips away the unnecessary, leaving only the essential threads that connect us to our surroundings. Beautiful work.
That is why I shouldn't write anything when I share my Visual Journal - you guys are so much better than me! =D
But serious now: I really love how you describe the landscape on a foggy day. Fog does change how we perceive the world - whether it's visually or the way it sounds and feels.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful words with me. Very inspirational!
I grew up in the fog of Northern California. We had dry fog (like the stuff in old bw movies) and wet fog - the kind that clings to your skin until it drips. Like rain only slower, colder... I really like this photo series. You capture in b/w what we see in the fog...
Beautiful! I LOVEEEE FOGGGGG!!! haha. We get it where I live sort of regularly... and every time we do I feel guilty if I don't go shoot :) It totally sets the mood though and I love it. I have a few select records I put on in my car and drive around to my favorite spots. Thanks for sharing!

I just looked up the whole poem and love it very much! Thank you for sharing it with me!
You capture the silence within the fog. And your photos capture the sense of a solitary space so magically.
Thank you, Patris!
Although I hate fog, photography has infused joy into it.
Oooh, why do you hate fog?
Because it’s depressing, especially when it comes in a grey city. However, for photography I love it!
I understand. At least you can appreciate it through your lens.
I love waking up to foggy mornings. - Beautiful, serene images!
Thank you, Alicia!
The fog makes everything prettier, doesn't it? Love the photos, especially the first one and the cobweb one.
Thank you, Alex! Fog does make everything prettier. It almost feels like cheating - because on a foggy day it is so much easier to take a good photo!

I knew you would find better words for it! "Atmospheric gift from the photography gods!" - Love it!
PS: So good to see you here!
Love fog as well. It is luckily more common where I live, between the rivers
Yeah, water has quite the impact on the weather. My friends who live further out of the city have a much higher chance of fog. I need to move! =)

Thank you for your kind feedback, Anne! Yes, the paler hues and colours are something I enjoy immensely. They quiet not only my eyes but also my mind.

I absolutely love fog!
All images are so soothing. Four is a favorite!!
Thank you, Manuela!
I love fog - it makes everything better. Beautiful collection Susanne.
It truly does!
I like the fog, too. It feels mystical and ancient.
It definitely adds to the atmosphere!

Sounds like I would prefer the ‚dry‘ fog! 😃

Thank you, Dan! I know that feeling when there is fog, but you can‘t go out with your camera. The worst! 🤣
Really love the high key plant .. like a pencil drawing
Thank you!
