I just received your wonderful photozines today! Thank you, I will spend some time getting to know them and enjoying this project. And Winter Poetry was both a surprise and so much appreciated, as I have spent the past month or so engaged with flowers and still life style due to the extreme heat here in florida..Trying to overcome various technical, creative and space issues..To see this beautiful photozine is just the inspiration I needed..One K radius!! great idea and of course the film images are amazing with each one strong enough to stand on their own merits.
Rick, thank you so much for your wonderful words. It makes me so happy to read, my little surprise for you was well received! And of course I am excited that you like the “one k radius” zine…
I did not realize you were featured on Ted's site! How wonderful! I'm a big fan. I love the photos you have on this post. Your zine is stunning! Congrats.
Thanks for re-posting. I found the information valuable, and it did cause me to pause and think about a collaboration I worked on with a photographer friend (I did the food work and writing, and she did the photography). The project was successful from our point of view, regardless of being turned down on the publisher's side of things a few times. Nevertheless, the project was valuable, and we followed a similar outline as you described.
On another note, I am interested in learning more about your zines. I have specific questions, so it might be best if I contact you privately.
Thanks… At the time it was depressing news. Now, I’m happy I didn’t take that path for several reasons - one being I wasn’t ready, and two my collaborator decided to move away from her career in food photography…
Self-publishing is a goal, but I need to understand the options much better…
I love this collaboration, Susanne! The images are thoughtful and the pairings have a synergy in them. Beautiful project. Congratulations! I’ll check out Ted’s YouTube channel— thanks for sharing!
I saw the AOP youtube video with Ted Forbes, but I did not associate it with you. Congratulations on making it on to the AOP with Ted. You are so right about the art of photography, it is an amazing source of inspiration and an insight into other styles and forms of photography, world wide, with a vast range of different experiences offered. I have followed Ted since 2014 or so and find his channel one of the true gems in a world of mediocrity. In answer to your other question, no I have never collaborated with another artist, well not to date. I do have ideas but am starting small with a simple Zine from Nantes in France where I currently reside. Like you I am a child of the world.
Thank you for your comment, Phillip. Ted really stands out for me when it comes to Photography channels on YouTube. And I am not saying this because he shared my zine. As you said, he shares excellent advice and insights when it comes to all things photography and I have learned a lot from him.

Looks like a super-successful colab. Love the pairings of the photos shown here in the post.
It was. And we are really proud how it turned out!

I am sorry your project has been turned down. That is why I love self-publishing. ;-)

Thank you, Stella. I would have never believed how much fun it would be to pair the photographs and we are really happy how it all turned out.

What a simple but great concept for your collaboration and the resulting zine - the images work so well together Susanne!
Thank you, Lin. It is great to here your feedback on it.
Susanne, This is a lovely Zine. The concept you chose for it with your friend is wonderful. Wishing you a very happy 50th birthday!
