Absolutely gorgeous - like visual poetry…..so many stories behind those rooms, as though the chairs are the last to bare witness, discarded in the devastation of the lives where they were once ´part’ of the furniture….very moving xx

I love this series. It's incredible the emotional impact that comes through a picture of a lone chair. Even an empty one carries so much weight. Beautiful work!

No problem - nice to find your work. Dyer is also eloquent on benches! "A chair can adapt itself to the environment; a bench weathers the storm, takes whatever life throws at it. Its view of the world is fixed, determined, stubbornly opposed to changes yet powerless to resist it. There is often the sense that the benches themselves are spectators, looking on at the passing human trade. Whatever happens they have seen it all before - even things they’re seeing for the first time. Not that the mood of a bench is always the same. No, like anything that spends its days outdoors, the bench has its seasons, its moments in the sun."

Wonderful stuff - there is something so poignant about a discarded chair - I find it impossible not to photograph them when I come across one ....

These are digital. Some of these places are rather dark and I have to make longer exposures sometimes. I don‘t feel comfortable doing that with film.
