I read 'A Line in the World' by Dorthe Nors and have wanted to visit the Danish coast ever since. I think its good to have familiar holiday areas that we return to again and again. The west coast of Scotland is my go to place.
I always enjoy your Denmark shots with some distant nostalgia as we had a few family vacations on a ferry from Newcastle across the North Sea to Denmark when I was really young (apologies if I’ve told you this already). Legoland, The Tollund Man, and beaches! I hadn’t seen journals 6 & 7 as they were before my time on Substack, but I really liked the experience of seeing that lighthouse in black and white in 6, then the switch to color for 7 and seeing it again from a different perspective.
Oh, thanks to you, I just learned about the Tollund man. Wow! Thank you for taking a look at the other Journals too and giving me feedback on them. So happy, you enjoy them!
Stunning observations, Susanne, love the diptychs too! I get it now in my early 40s, after doing winters in Mexico City and Rome, that's it for me, I don't need to see or explore new places, I can alternate winters between the two cities and photograph them deeper and deeper after each visit. I would like to know more about that journey of finding a place away from home that you can call home from your point of view and own experience. Maybe on a future post?
I have walked the same trail for years and it has changed a lot over time, all of the observations create a sense of intimate knowledge of the area. When a vandal drove across it, running over several trees, I felt sorrow and I think even sympathy, like for a friend. The familiarity you describe is a connection to those surroundings. As usual, beautiful photos nicely depict your special place!
Thank you, Manuela! On this day, I had my Sony A7 III with me. But most of my other Visual Journals are made with my Ricoh GR IIIx (amazing little camera).
Mmmh, Madeira is rather known because it is so green. I have been to Malta and remember that island very bare and „un-green“. Photos? I should have some negatives now that you say it…
I’m the very same about repeating holidays! I now have favourite places I want to keep going back to! When does that happen? Is there an age cross over 😆
went to the same place on holidays, always the same time of the year for 15 years in a row. i can write a book about it, sista! 😊
and yes, you are right: the place is never the same!
You know what they say: with age comes wisdom. 😃
PS: You don't have to write a whole book, but maybe a newsletter? ☺️
some of the photos already featured in the newsletter. for the moment i have no plans on stopping so i will keep going with it. 😊
Beautiful images Susanne.

Thank you, Gill! I have to check out that book. I have been to Scotland once and would love to return there one day.
The book is excellent - I would definitely recommend it, particularly as you know the location.
Nice play with echoing shapes, and the one with the dog is special!
Thanks a lot! Happy you like them.
Beautiful
Thanks, Dan!
Very pretty beach shots. I love the BnW treatment too.
Thank you!

Enjoyed this beach walk with you, Susanne! Love the minimalist aesthetics to these images.
That‘s good to hear, Stella! Thank you for your comment!

I have to think about that. But thank you for your interest! I can say the same about you - why Rome and Mexico City? Would love to know more...
Yeah, I'm working on something about certain similarities and connections
Sounds great!
Thank you for the beautiful moment of pause and quietness. I love your photography, Susanne.
You are very welcome, Akiko! Happy to provide a moment of quiet with my photos! ☺️
Lots of enjoyable shapes and pairings here...
Thank you, Diana!

Oh, I know exactly the feeling you are describing. If I see a cut down or fallen tree which were in a familiar park or forest, I feel the same way…
Exceptional images! May I ask what camera do you use mostly? Or which one you used for these images?

Susanne, as always and unfailingly you leave me in awe. Powerful, reflective and moving photographs. All and every one. X.
Thanks so much, Patris! I really appreciate your kind feedback!
Beautiful. Coincidentally I have a friend who just moved to Madeira and found the landscape like Mars. Did you take any photos there?
Mmmh, Madeira is rather known because it is so green. I have been to Malta and remember that island very bare and „un-green“. Photos? I should have some negatives now that you say it…

So, you didn’t get the memo neither? ;-)
These are really great! I have been there. I can feel it in my bones.... born there actually, and it is as it should be. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Søren! Hearing from you, that my photos make you feel connected means a lot!
