I will pause the regular “My Visual Journal” for a special edition this week. My regular version will continue in two weeks. I hope you will enjoy this one too!
A few weeks ago, I wrote a newsletter about “Photographing Windows”, sharing a bit of a historic retrospective as well as my own fascination for windows as a photographic subject.
The response from you all was incredible. Many of you could relate to my thoughts on the topic, and some even shared their own photographs of windows with me. Søren, a fellow photographer and writer here on Substack, reached out to me and asked if I was up for a challenge. He suggested sending me five or six photographs of windows, to which I would respond to with photographs from my own archive.1
How could I say no? Collaborations like these are such a fantastic way to connect with other creatives and an exciting opportunity to dig into my archive to find images that resonate.
If you’ve never tried something like this before, I highly recommend it!
Thank you, Søren, for reaching out and giving me this wonderful opportunity!
And now, here are Søren's six photographs and my responses to them.2 Enjoy!
If you want to see more - I sent Søren six photographs as well and he responded to mine photographically too. You can find this post here.
That’s all from me this week.
Thank you so much for being here and for taking the time to read this week’s newsletter. It means a lot to me!
X,
Susanne
PS: I always love reading the comments, your feedback, and stories you share with me. It always makes my day. Thank you!
Maybe you remember a similar collaboration I did with perfectlight last year: https://substack.com/@susannehelmert/p-142147025 and https://substack.com/@susannehelmert/p-142147025
It is actually the other way around - my photos are left and his are on the right side.
Thank you. It was super interesting and fun at the same time!
I love this collaboration! Fun to see two of my favorite photography Substacks join forces on on this creative idea. The photos are fantastic—thanks for sharing!
